Happy birthday to you once again. It’s always a joy to write to you, though I must confess I’m incensed at your refusal to send a reply to my first letter I wrote to you exactly a year ago.
Is it that you don’t care about your country anymore, or you’ve lost hope in the Ghana you left behind? Well I’ll be the least surprised if that should be the case, because many of us have lost hope too. But I think you should still know some of the happenings in the country since I last wrote to you till now.
I don’t know if you ever boasted during your time having developed any kind of syndrome. But it seems the man in charge has developed this goat syndrome, and that the sharpest butcher’s knife wouldn’t even give him a sweat. Meaning he’s grown immune to our constant complaints and that they do not worry him the least. Can you imagine?
And oh last June was bad, Osagyefo. Really bad! We know water and fire to be sworn enemies, but it seems they managed to iron out their differences on that 3rd June. The two combined to kill many cherished loved ones, and at your own Nkrumah circle too o. Such impunity! May the departed souls find rest.
I was wondering if you were ever in favor of an ‘ecowas’ voters register. Well it seems those in charge of the country’s register managed to get one for us. And now citizens from our very dear neighbouring countries can have their say in who becomes the president of your beloved Ghana. I’m sure your eyes are swirling with envy after reading this, because I believe you’d have loved to add this epic achievement to your CV. Too bad.
I know you abhorred corruption, but can you take a wild guess as to where it’s found itself now? Right in our courts, sitting comfortably on the laps of our highly esteemed judges. I don’t know if you’re as surprised as some of us are at this, but I’m sure you’ll be very much grateful to Anas for this breathtaking exposé. And oh, the many poor souls who find themselves languishing in our prisons because of these corrupt judges. Hm!
So I’ll end on this note. I can only imagine how downcast you are after reading all these. But God still remains faithful, and He’s been our refuge all this while.
I’ll be expecting a reply, and I hope you don’t disappoint this time too.
