I stumble upon a worth-sharing website (www.ebooksghana.com) on the internet during my final year thesis research. The website is apparently owned by Ebooks Ghana Company Limited, a fast growing tech company in Ghana that specializes in a wide range of services to students, teachers and businesses. The company as it were, sought to make valuable and transformative investments in education, bridging the use of technology and the traditional methods of research and studies to achieve the desired results. The rolling-effect of such investments would radically transform our educational system to the research-based system that ensures our students and teachers gain the necessary knowledge to foster inventions and build businesses. Literally, it is a safe-hub where students and teachers get unlimited access to high quality academic materials anytime, anywhere instantly for absolutely free. For emphasis, I mean free.It also supports educational programs through sponsorship packages and many more whilst serving as a lucrative avenue for teachers without putting ¬financial burdens on students. My background checks on the company revealed that, they are in collaboration with reputable organizations such as University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), National Association of Teachers (NAT) and many other multi-media organizations whose function primarily is to continuously review and endorse the content of textbooks and other relevant educational materials before they are posted onto the company’s academic website platform. So much credibility is honestly not in doubt. I realized it also engages authors to help come up with contents for the academic website platform including managing the review process. The interesting aspect is that, there is a study program dubbed “get Educated Ghana Initiative” which is establishing ebooks hub school chapters/clubs across all senior high schools in Ghana to help students fi¬nd opportunities both local and abroad including financial aids and scholarships, affordable tuition and hostel and many more.Partner schools of the school chapter/club receive sponsorship packages for events and programs such as science fairs, debates, sporting programs, speech and prize giving events and more. Combing through the website, I found a social media platform and blog that shares excitement and engagement among people from different walks of life. By simply signing up on the social media platform, users get the opportunity to write and post exciting, mind explosive and very educative contents for reading whilst liking, commenting and staying engage with other valuable users across the globe. If Worldreader’s experience so far is any guide, e-readers are set to transform the developing world, both in and outside the classroom. But this change would not be driven by e-readers by themselves; it will be driven by human curiosity, ever-increasing connectivity, enlightened self-interest, and a gentle push from companies like Ebooks Ghana Company Limited. I am very certain that such innovative initiatives stand the chances of forever changing the face of our educational sector by creating an enabling environment that allow citizens grow up in a world where they have access to any educational material that piques their curiosity. I therefore urge all and sundry to visit and sign up on the website for the transformational agenda.
